The Life-Giving Wedding of Clint + Darian | Fort Concho | San Angelo, Texas

Clint and Darian’s wedding day started at dawn. At 7:00a.m., Sean and I (Leah) arrived at Fort Concho. The stone-clad house where the bridesmaids were getting ready was still covered by the blanket of the night’s darkness, and all was quiet. Already, Darian’s bridesmaids were hard at work on her makeup. They shared in the responsibility of readying their friend for her day—one of them applied foundation, another her lashes, another her lipstick and highlighter. It was such a sweet group effort with amazing results, too!

As the sun came up, it was like the buildings themselves were alive with excitement—watching, waiting, and facilitating this important change. The day felt significant. Clint and Darian’s excitement was like the buzz of sound or electricity in the air—it surrounded you, lifted you, and filled you up (Okay, I know I’m mixing metaphors here, but it was just awesome).

Just an hour before their ceremony, Clint and Darian stepped away from their friends to step toward each other. They dressed, Darian’s mother lovingly placed on her daughter heirlooms from both families—a string of pearls and an antique bracelet. Hair was braided, lipstick was applied, and Darian walked through the cold and mud towards her groom. They met, hidden from each other, and prayed together. They read letters they had written to each other, and they held hands and promised that they would see each other again soon.

The day passed quickly. Clint and Darian were married (YAY), then brunch was served (YUM). Rather than dancing, the couple opted to spend their reception relaxing and talking with their loved ones. As guests ate and drank and enjoyed the early afternoon, acoustic indie carried through the hall that was artfully filled with fresh florals. Mimosas were served, a gluten-free cake was cut, and tops were popped off glass bottles of Coca-Cola.

We felt honored to play a part in the coming-together of these two sweet souls.

P.S. Sean and I were able to capture this day with wedding photography and videography. If you want to really get a feel for this day, be sure to watch their wedding film at the bottom of the page. It really is beautiful to hear Clint and Darian’s words spoken out loud.
